Smart Keyboard Folio not typing

It snaps on magnetically but no keystrokes register. iPad gives an "accessory not supported" error.

Clean the three smart connector pins on the back of the iPad and the keyboard with rubbing alcohol. If that fails, the ribbon cable inside the keyboard fold is likely torn.
